- W2938331107 abstract "The presence of pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) in the environment have received growing interest over the past few years. The removal of PPCPs from surface and ground water and aquatic systems has attracted much attention recently. PPCPs found in primary and secondary treatment processes of wastewater treatment plants indicates that these processes cannot effectively eliminate PPCPs from raw wastewater. Therefore to enhance the removal performance of PPCPs and reduce potential risk to the ecosystem, it is necessary to adopt appropriate tertiary treatment processes. Several methods, including membrane separation and advanced oxidation processes (ozonation, H2O2, UV, photocatalysts, etc.) have been applied for the removal of PPCPs. An interesting solution seems to be the use of a membrane bioreactor in the treatment of wastewater containing pharmaceuticals or their metabolites." @default.
