• W2938349621 abstract "The present study entitled “EVALUATION OF DIGITAL PLATFORM FOR AGRICULTURE OF EFRESH AGRIBUSINESS SOLUTIONS PVT. LTD.” was undertaken to find out the extent of awareness and services provided by eFresh digital platform and their utilization pattern eFresh digital platform by farmers and role played by agents to update the eFresh digital platform. The study was undertaken at Jagital district of Telangana state with the following specific objectives. 1. To document the role played by the agents involved in the value chain of agriculture in the selected villages to update the digital platform of eFresh. 2. To examine the adoption of digital platform developed by eFresh and estimating the extent of its use in the selected villages. 3. To identify the constraints faced by farmers and other stakeholders in the usage of the digital platform of eFresh agribusiness. For the purpose of the study, about 55 farmers and 20 agents were selected randomly from five randomly selected villages (i.e., Katlakuna, Laxmipoor, Kodimail, Srirampally and Porumalla) at Jagital district where Digital Platform for Agriculture (DPA) was introduced. The data was collected through personal interview method with the help of pre-tested questionnaires. The schedule consisted agents’ role in value chain of agriculture to update the eFresh digital platform and adoption, perceptions, extent of utilization of DPA of eFresh by farmers. The data collected was tabulated and analyzed by using simple statistical tools like percentages, averages and Garrett’s ranking technique The results showed that a majority of the farmers were aware of eFresh digital platform. This platform was providing technical information about crop cultivation, market prices, weather forecasts, expert system to identify the type of machineries to be used, fertilizer dose, plant protection chemicals, crop insurance, customized information seek for farmers on various schemes of Govt. / Banks,etc. Agents played major role to promoting good agricultural practices, demo farms, sale of quality agri inputs through DPA outlets and farm technologies aggregation and market linkage support, sale of seeds, fertilizers, micro nutrients, agripump sets, farm technologies, solar products, agri-extension services like soil and water testing, issue of soil health card, water use efficiency conducting customized training programs at villages. The major constraints of DPA expressed by the farmers, agents and stakeholders are lack of local language interface, lack of skills/expertise in handling digital platform, negative attitude towards modern tool for transactions and erratic power supply, huge returns of the unsold products after the season is over, lack of consistency in demand generation, competitors products advertised on the same platform. The effective strategies for making this platform successful are providing training to farmers, extending the platform to other nearby bases, providing the contents in vernacular language and improving contents on price information and government schemes.The study also highlights the need to provide advisory through this platform in local language and provide more information on Government schemes to the farmers." @default.
