- W2938892407 abstract "Whirlpool is a separator used in the brewing industry for the separation of hot trub. The so-called Tea Leaf Paradox is responsible for the formation of deposit cone. One of this separator is a whirlpool kettle. This paper presents the analysis of the primary and secondary flows responsible for the formation of the hot trub cone in a both separators. Computational Fluid Dynamics and Particle Image Velocimetry were used to analyze the influence of pulsatile filling on the appearance of these flows was in a whirlpool kettle. The results of the study showed that pulsatile filling was advantageous for flows, in both the classic tank and whirlpool kettle. With pulsatile filling, the velocities of both the primary and secondary flows responsible for the cone formation were higher. The location of the maximum velocity of the primary flow was located (depending on the construction and the way of filling) at a distance of 0.68–0.72 R (the vessel radius). In addition, a much smaller negative influence of the pipe was found in the whirlpool kettle." @default.
