• W2942041034 abstract "The management of frequency dynamics along with energy and reserve scheduling is a challenging issue in Unit Commitment (UC) of modern power systems due to advent of renewable generations that have less system inertia compared with synchronous generators. This study proposes a new model for optimal energy and reserve scheduling in which the frequency dynamics of power systems are taken into account. The Wind Turbines (WTs) and Energy Storage Systems (ESSs) as batteries are considered in this modeling. The aim of this paper is to retain the frequency dynamic security by considering the Demand Response (DR) program and injections of fast response ESSs that are batteries following a generation loss. Also, the uncertainty of WT generation is taken into account using a probabilistic model. The Frequency Dynamics-constrained Unit Commitment (FDUC) considering batteries as named FDUCB is formulated as a Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP) problem with considering ESSs, DR, and WT uncertainty. The proposed method is examined on a 6-bus test system and simulation results is then derived for four different case studies. The obtained results indicate that the proposed model can guarantee frequency security while reducing the operation costs." @default.
