EnglishThe Carrizal de Cofin, located in Ebro’s Valley (La Rioja), is a long reed bed with great value for the migration and hibernated passerine birds that had not been assessed before. Between 2011 and 2018 the capture and banding of these birds from October to February has allowed to confirm the importance and potentiality of the wetland in that period. More of the half of the captures were of Common Reed Bunting (Emberiza schoeniclus) and Eurasian Penduline Tit (Remiz pendulinus). Including one specimen of Eastern Iberian Reed Bunting (Emberiza schoeniclus witherbyi). Other outstanding species, either for number or importance, were: Bearded Reedling (Panurus biarmicus), Bluethroat (Luscinia svecica) and Water Pipit (Anthus spinoletta). The high rates of recaptures registered make us think of the good ecological conditions of the wetland for these hibernating birds of the Center and North of Europe, specially for R. pendulinus. During this period, several species find in the reed bed the optimum place where being protected and spending the night and, in their environment, appropriated areas for camping and feeding." @default.
