Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif. Subjek penelitian adalah masyarakat Selebung Kecamatan Janapria. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalaui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumen. Analisis menurut Miles dan Huberman, yaitu (1). Reduksi data, (2) Penyajian data, (3) penarikan simpulan. Hasil penelitian Tradisi Merariq atau kawin lari Masyarakat Sasak memiliki banyak retual atau tahapan-tahapan sebagai berikut; merariqatau kawin lari, melapor kepada kepala lingkungan,nyelabar, melakukan pernikahan, rebak pucuk, begawe, sorong serah, nyongkolan, dan bales lampak. Akulturasi budaya dapat terjadi karena keterbukaan suatu komunitas masyarakat akan mengakibatkan kebudayaan yang mereka miliki akan terpengaruh dengan kebudayaan komunitas masyarakat lain. Selain keterbukaan masyarakatnya, perubahan kebudayaan yang disebabkan “perkawinan“ dua kebudayaan bisa juga terjadi akibat adanya pemaksaan dari masyarakat asing memasukkan unsur kebudayaan lokal. Akulturasi budaya bisa juga terjadi karena kontak dengan budaya lain, sistem pendidikan yang maju yang mengajarkan seseorang untuk lebih berfikir ilmiah dan objektif, keinginan untuk maju, sikap mudah menerima hal-hal baru dan toleransi terhadap perubahan. Akan tetapi dalam tradisi ada perbedaan pendapat dikalangan para tokoh adat dengan tokoh agama di tengah-tengah masyarakatsasak. Tradisimerariqmasyarakat sasak banyak mengubah persepsi pelaksanaan merariq atau pernikahan sesuai dengan ajaran islam.Abstract: The research aims to to know the tradition of merariqdan acculturation of Islam in local culture in tradition merariq sasak society in Selebung village of Janapria District Central Lombok Regency Year 2014. This research use descriptive quantitative research method. The subject of this research is the Selebung community of Janapria District. Data collection is done through observation, interviews, and documents. Analysis according to Miles and Huberman, namely (1). Reduction of data, (2) Presentation of data, (3) withdrawal of conclusions. The results of the Merariq Tradition or the elopement of the Sasak Society have many of the following retreats or stages; merariqatau eloping, reporting to the head of the environment, nyelabar, do weddings, rebuk bud, begawe, push shove, nyongkolan, and bales lampak. Cultural acculturation can occur because the openness of a community will result in the culture they have will be affected by the culture of other communities. In addition to the openness of its people, cultural changes caused by the marriage of two cultures can also occur due to the coercion of foreign society incorporating elements of local culture. Cultural acculturation can also occur because of contact with other cultures, advanced educational systems that teach a person to be more scientific and objective thinking, the desire to move forward, the easy acceptance of new things and the tolerance for change. However, in the tradition there are differences of opinion among indigenous figures with religious leaders in the midst of the societysasak.
