- W2947194906 abstract "Abstract Reprogramming the fate of somatic cells to induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and to alternative cellular lineages via transdifferentiation involves stage-specific epigenetic changes that ultimately lead to the establishment of substantially different gene regulatory networks. In the past decade, a tremendous body of research has emerged focusing on elucidating the critical mechanisms that direct reprogramming-driven epigenetic remodeling and ultimately determine the resultant cell fate. Investigations into the epigenetic dynamics of somatic cell fate reprogramming have provided valuable insights into the molecular checkpoints underpinning cell fate decisions, and have consistently improved the feasibility of employing this technology for regenerative medicine purposes. In this chapter, we discuss the recent literature regarding the molecular mechanisms underlying the epigenetic changes that drive somatic cell fate reprogramming, current strategies for modulating reprogramming efficiency, and progress towards the application of somatic cell reprogramming technologies in clinical settings such as disease modeling and tissue regeneration." @default.
