- W294891743 abstract "IntroductionBeach volleyball is a very demanding sport which is played outdoors usually under difficult conditions such as Sportive disciplines have different characteristics according to the type of activities and to the neuromuscular, cardiovascular and respiratory efforts involved (Moreno et al, 2012).Basketball (Messina, 2004) is a team sport in which efforts are well balanced and are well proved through the efficiency of the shot, of the throw and the assist performed in a very changeable agonistic situation (Mondoni, 1984; Peterson, 2003); as a matter of fact the basketball player must use his/her abilities (Barnes, Marsden, 2002) as quickly as possible and with great mastery, in particular, he/she must be able to show the so- called open skills (Vanlandewijck, 1999).The physical abilities of athletes-distinguished in coordination and conditioning abilities-are always evaluated according to their performance and their success both as individual and as a team (Magni, 2009; Weineck, 2001).Wheelchair basketball has enjoyed great success at the Paralympic Games (International Wheelchair Basketball Federation, 2011) and it is one of the most popular sports for disabled (Filoramo Bal, 2007) people and one of the oldest practiced, having little difference a part from the use of the wheelchair compared to the dynamic of the discipline played by able-bodied people (Piras, Carboni, 1999; Beretta, Mosconi, 2001). The main differences relate to the classification expressed by a score and by some infractions, i.e. if a player rises from the wheelchair which is considered a technical fault, if a player moves forward more than twice without bouncing the ball, if a player the wheelchair rear wheels off the floor holding the ball in his/her hand (de Oliveira et al. 2009; Gil-Agudo et. al. 2010).Wheelchair basketball classification is the grouping of players into categories (classes), based on the player's physical capacity to execute fundamental basketball movements; pushing the wheelchair, dribbling, shooting, passing catching, rebounding and reacting to contact (International Wheelchair Basketball Federation, 2010). Athletes must be classified before they can take part in league matches by a technical medical commission which assesses the functional capacity of players on a point scale ranging from 0,5 to 4.5, according to the type of injury of the spinal cord, amputation etc. The total point value of each team participating in a game must not exceed the 14.5-point limit. The purpose of this study was investigate the improvement of the percentage of the fundamentals of passing and shooting, by monitoring the performance of the players of the CISS Basket Napoli, a wheelchair club joining the national second division team championship and previously joining the A2 team league. The validity of the tests as characteristics and percentage of each player were recorded by testing them during their trial on court in an approved indoor stadium.MethodThe data were collected during the last two academic years at the Faculty of Sciences (now the Department of Exercise Science and Wellness), University of Naples Parthenope (course of Theory Methodology and Education of The Sports) to assess the skills coordinative and conditional used in passing and shooting of wheelchair basketball. The research carried out using an observation method and handwriting reporting-was made on a sample of 20 disabled athletes, both male and female, who already had experienced national wheelchair basket leagues and who belonged to the CISS Basket Napoli team, including athletes of the junior team. The study included initial, intermediate and final tests. In the light of the result of the initial test a subdivision of the athletes in two groups was made: the control group, consisting of athletes having the higher percentage of shoots and passings (named group A) and the experimental group, consisting of athletes having the lower percentage (named group B). …" @default.
