- W2949059969 abstract "1,3-Dipolar cycloaddition reactions are among the most important synthetic routes for the construction of five-membered ring carbocycles and heterocyclic systems 1 . Owing to the labile nature of the N–O bond under mild reducing conditions, isoxazolidines provide easy access to a variety of fascinating 1,3difunctional aminoalcohols 2 . In continuation of our green methodological synthesis of spiro isoxazolidine, isoxazolidine, isoxazoline, aldehyde, ketone synthesis using αchloro and αamino nitrones in solid phase and in hydrated media 3-12 , we report herein microwave assisted green synthesis of some novel Nmethyl isoxazolidine derivatives (Scheme I, Table I) having high synthetic potential in the synthesis of acyclic chiral 1,3-amino alcohols with excellent yield (Scheme II, Table II). The use of microwaves in organic synthesis has increased dramatically within the past decade, receiving widespread acceptance and becoming an indespensible tool 13 . Microwave technology has become a powerful tool in organic synthesis, since by employing this technique it is generally possible to prepare organic compounds very fast with high purity and better yields compared to other more conventional methods 14 . Moreover, the technique is considered as an important approach towards ‘Green Chemistry’ because of its eco-friendly nature. Microwave irradiation can be used as a facile and general method for the synthesis of variety of 1,3amino alcohols where considerably shortened reaction time is involved 15 . Synthetic potential of the novel N-methyl isoxazolidine derivatives 2-4 are tremendous as they could be converted into acyclic chiral 1,3 difunctional amino alcohols (Scheme II) by the reductive cleavage of the N-O bond of the isoxazolidines 2-4 by simply treating the substrates with zinc powder in glacial acetic acid under microwave irradiation 16-18 ." @default.
