- W2949130979 abstract "When studying Theory of Machine and Mechanism (TMM), university students deal with a vast array of information, both theoretical and practical, that they should master within a limited time. The amount of information increases every year, as evidenced by an active discussion of the problem of big data in many professional fields, including education. At the same time, the development of means of e-communication significantly increases the likelihood of plagiarism when students make home assignments and perform course projects. To reduce the risk of plagiarism, TMM teachers have to issue a unique design problem to each student. This leads to significant losses in both the time and efforts of teachers. The method of modeling technical systems using closed vector contours has a high degree of abstraction and generalization; it is applicable for modeling various mechanisms for dimensional, kinematic and dynamic synthesis and design; it does not require much time for students to master it. In addition, this method, implemented as a computer software package, allows to relatively quickly obtain computer models of variants of a mechanism and to carry out their comparative analysis. The paper dives examples of the use of the method and software for the dimensional synthesis of cam mechanisms, conducted by students for educational purposes.
