- W2950348532 abstract "Manufacturing of the physical prototypes of the mixed reality devices may be very cost ineffective, so authors propose using the virtual prototyping approach to estimate the visual perception quality of newly developed approaches aimed on reduction of the visual perception conflicts and particularly the restoration of the light-optical characteristics of the real environment. In the current article the virtual prototyping method is used to analyze the visual perception conflict in the real mixed reality devices equipped with light-optical environment restoration technology. Two approaches to the restore the real-world illumination are analyzed: detection of directly visible light sources with neural networks and analysis of the shadows cast by the real-world objects. An image with the real known illumination conditions is also synthesized that is considered as the perfect results of the restoration of the illumination conditions. By comparing the simulation results authors show the visual quality of each of the elaborated methods along with possible sources of the visual perception conflict that should be the aim of the further research. Visual perception for cases of optical see-through and video seethough mixed reality systems is presented." @default.
