- W2951174006 abstract "Agrobacterium rhizogenes incites hairy root formation in wounded tissues of many dicot plant species by transferring specific T一DNA into plant genome and this usually involves aux genes and rol genes in the T一DNA of Ri plasmid. This technique of genetic transformation has been applied to many crop species like those belonging Brassica (He et al .1990 and 1994,Tepf er1984). Potato(Solanum tuberosum L. )is one of the most important food crops in the % orld. In recent years, there were a few of reports about the transformation of different genotypes of potato using Ti一plasmids (Ooms et al .1983, Sheerman and Bevan 1988, Visser et al.1989a) and Ri-plasmids (Ooms et al .1985 , Hanisch ten Cate et al .1988,de Vries一Uijtewaal et al .1988,Visser et al .1989b).However,little is known about the effects of Ri T一DNA genes on tuber formation although it is known that auxin synthesis genes and rol genes in Ri一DNA could regulate tuber formation. The present work was a part of our research project to stanardize a transformation procedure for the study of regulatory effects of endogenous hormones on potato tuber initiation and development. We used two strains of A. rhizogenes (A4 and LBA9402Bin19) to infect stem and leaf explants. Transformation frequency of plant explants and root morphology and opine production of resultant hairy roots were observed." @default.
