- W2951725549 abstract "This research aims to shed light on the poorly investigated issue of deadjectivalnominalization, focusing on Italian and taking a corpus-basedapproach. The adopted framework is grounded in Croft’s RadicalConstruction Grammar, which considers lexical categories as constructionsof pragmatic functions and semantic concepts; in Croft’s view, de-adjectivalnouns are then references of property concepts, which however gives only ageneric understanding of this type of construction. Radical ConstructionGrammar is then integrated with Malchukov’s perspective onnominalization, which describes the phenomenon as further articulated intothe two parallel processes of the acquirement of nominal parameters and theloss of verbal parameters. The application of the elaborated framework tothousands of occurrences of Italian de-adjectival nouns sees the emergenceof a series of grammatical patterns describing a number of minor lexicalcategories, which are found between the two major categories of Italianadjectives and nouns." @default.
