- W2952149114 abstract "According to ecological feminists, there are important connections between the treatment of women, people of color, and the underclass, on the one hand, and the treatment of nonhuman nature, on the other hand. Ecological feminists claim that any feminism, environmentalism, or environmental ethic that fails to take these connections seriously is grossly inadequate. Just as there is not one feminism, there is not one ecofeminism or one ecofeminist philosophy. Ecological feminism has roots in the wide variety of different feminisms. Only 8 percent of the world’s water supply is fresh or potable. Millions of humans have difficulty getting sufficient water necessary for survival, about five liters a day. In more than half the South, less then 50 percent of the population has a source of potable water or facilities for sewage disposal. It is estimated that women farmers grow at least 59 percent of the world’s food and perhaps as much as 80 percent." @default.
