- W2953685681 abstract "Introduction: Retroperitoneum lymph node involvement in colorectal cancer is rare, with a reported incidence of < 2%. To date, few clinical trials have been conducted to determine the oncological results in relation to lymph node metastasis. Patients with Retroperitoneal Lymph Node Metastasis (RLNM) have a 5-year Overall Survival (OS) of 33.9%. Management for lymph nodes metastases has not been defined properly. The aim of this study is to determine the prognosis of metastatic colorectal patients with RLNM with or without other metastases. Methods: The present study is retrospective and observational. We included metastatic colorectal cancer patients with RLNM in a period of 2010 - 2018. The radiologist was asked to review lymph node metastasis and to register short axis nodal-size. Descriptive and inferential statistics, Xi2; Kaplan-Meier and Log Rank and Co-Regression for overall survival (OS) and factor analysis, p < 0.05 bilateral statistical significance. Results: The study included 176 patients with metastatic colorectal adenocarcinoma including RLNM, men (n = 82) and women (n = 94) with a mean age of 53.68 SD 14.11 years. Primary tumor location included 54% (n = 95) colon and 46% (n = 81) rectum. Of the total patients, 23% (n = 40) documented isolated-RLNM, and 77% (n = 136) RLNM+other-metastases. According to RLNM nodal-size 76% (n = 134) were ≥10mm and 24% (n = 42). Conclusion: The present study demonstrates that patients with RLNM+other-metastases had differences in 5-year OS and an increased risk of death compared with those with isolated RLNM. Patients with nodal-size <10mm have a better OS. Additionally, patients treated with chemotherapy showed differences in OS independently of the nodal-size. Thus Chemotherapy, nodal-size <10mm and RLNM+other-metastases remained predictors of the OS in the multivariate analysis." @default.
