• W2955443206 abstract "Purpose - The paper seeks to contribute to closing the gap between conceptual benefits of Science Parks and their perceived effect. The paper aims to develop a conceptual framework of how managers of corporations and founders of startups perceive the emergence of interorganizational collaboration in a Science Park. The framework shall serve to understand how the Science Park can enable innovation through the emergence of interorganizational collaboration.Method - A qualitative case study with nine managers of corporations and founders of startups located in Ideon Science Park in Lund, Sweden, and its CEO was conducted.Findings - The paper finds that the individuals’ mindsets, their companies’ structures and common goals with collaborators are preconditions for the emergence of interorganizational collaboration. The Science Park is perceived as an enabler, in particular providing support and infrastructure to its member companies. The paper finds individuals with experience in startups and collaboration recognize more opportunities to emerge in interorganizational collaboration.Research limitations/implications - The qualitative case study was conducted in Ideon Science Park, limiting its generalizability for other Science Parks. Focusing on the emergence of interorganizational collaboration, the understanding of nature and reason as well as the outcome of collaboration in Science Parks would complement the present case study.Practical implications - The findings suggest that companies and their employees should engage in learning about collaboration and create enabling preconditions internally. Corporations aiming at innovating through collaboration should seek both human capital with industry and functional work experience, as well as entrepreneurial and collaborative experience. The Science Park can support companies and individuals through education and infrastructure. Aligning the interests of a corporation, a startup and the Science Park are in favour of the emergence of interorganizational collaboration in a Science Park." @default.
