• W2955992788 abstract "During the last five years, the development of the nephrology in the Republic of Moldova took a new course due to the contribution of the ISN, who decided to support our collaboration with Romania through the SRC from level C to level A. Considering the declining economic situation in the country and the gaps in the health care system, this partnership was an opportunity to move things from inside, to rebuild together a strong nephrology community by offering different educational tools to our practitioners. A particular advantage of this collaboration is the use of a common language by the two countries. Education: As educational support, we offered for Moldavian nephrologists travel grants for attendance at the most important Romanian scientific meetings in the field: National Congress of Nephrology, Renal Failure Academy, NefroGeriatrica, etc. One of the most important achievement is the organization the first Kidney Transplant Forum “The Right Kidney for the Right Recipient”, an ISN endorsed meeting, which reunited international experts from leading European transplant centers. We organized a series of educational activities at the EC in collaboration with our colleagues from Dr. C.I. Parhon Hospital. On a yearly basis, we organize national conferences, the 2018 edition is a two-day event, the first day of the conference is focused on AKI and for the second day, we prepared a workshop on the evaluation of the hydric status of CKD patients by using pulmonary ultrasound and electrical bioimpedance. Research: We focus our actual studies on HD population, especially on the concept of fragility and frailty, quality of life, cardio-vascular risk assessment. In the same time, we continue our joint project for the evaluation of the relationship between inflammatory markers (i.e. the serum levels of CRP, IL-1 and TNF- α), periodontal disease and nutritional markers. Two PhD students from the EC are doing their research with the support of the team from the SC. In the field of paediatric nephrology, the Republic of Moldova joined the Romanian initiative to create a national paediatric renal registry. Achievements: Our five-year collaboration allowed us to improve the general nephrology clinical practice and the kidney transplant program in the Republic of Moldova. As a part of SRC benefits, many doctors, including nephrologists, pathologists and immunologists from the EC were trained in the SC. One of the most important achievements is the progress with the implementation of kidney biopsy in the EC, the improvement of the management of CKD-HD patients and transplant recipients, especially immune and infectious transplant complications." @default.
