- W2959096156 abstract "Ammonia is an environmental pollutant whose amount should be monitored otherwise it may cause serious health problems. Localized surface Plasmon resonance (LSPR) based sensing is a non-destructive, cost effective and efficient tool for the detection of ammonia. The synthesis of nano-alloys would create synergic effect on the LSPR detection properties of metal nanoparticles which are traditionally employed in LSPR based sensors. In this study, we report the synthesis of bimetallic alloy nanorods (AgAu) by diffusion of silver (Ag) into the pre-formed gold (Au) nanorods in the solution form at room temperature. As prepared nanorods solution was characterized using Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and UV-Visible spectroscopy which confirms the formation of alloy form of nanorods. As prepared nanorods based LSPR sensor is successful in detecting the 100 ppm of liquid ammonia by showing a blue shift in corresponding Plasmon peak." @default.
