- W2960511272 abstract "This chapter explores the relevance of Michel Foucault’s ideas on the ‘art-of-living’ concept for ethics education in military organizations. Given Foucault’s intellectual indebtedness to Nietzsche we first present a theoretical analysis of the concept Bildung and subsequently focus on the ‘art-of-living’ concept in the work of Foucault. We then illustrate how the art-of-living concept has been used in a train-the-trainer course on military ethics and discuss the results thereof. We suggest that Foucauldian art-of-living may foster awareness of power dynamics with regard to military moral dilemmas and enable military personnel to consider alternative options to responsibly deal with moral dilemmas." @default.
