The relevant information in the Asian context is scant, due to limited published reportsor literature on how the Asian universities, including Malaysian’s, are integrating sustainability into their engineeringcurricula. Therefore, this study aims at studying the current approach used by the Malaysian universities to integratesustainability into its engineering curricula and identifying which approach is more effective for such integration. Thisstudy targeted at the chemical engineering undergraduate programme in five selected universities in Malaysia. A surveywas used and a total of 173 responses were collected. Correlation analysis was then conducted. It was found that theundergraduates’ knowledge and interest level of sustainable development was unsatisfactory. The results revealed thatspecific and compulsory courses related to sustainable development could be more effective for delivering knowledge ofsustainability for the undergraduates, a finding that was different from that suggested in the existing literature for theWestern Countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Sweden and others." @default.
