- W2963158051 abstract "Abstract The powder metallurgy (PM) nickel-based superalloy FGH98 was subjected to solution treatment followed by cooling at three different rates, and the effects of the cooling rate on the microstructure and tensile properties of the alloy at 750 °C were investigated. The results show that as the cooling rate decreases, the average size of secondary γ′ precipitates increases, and the morphology of the secondary γ′ precipitates changes from a near-cuboidal shape to a butterfly shape. As the size of the γ′ precipitates increases, the localized slip occurs more difficultly resulting in improved plasticity. It is found that stacking fault (SF) shearing and microtwinning are the dominant mechanisms of 750 °C tensile deformation for the FGH98 alloy with fine and coarse γ′ precipitates respectively. The increase of γ′ precipitates size is suggested to promote the mechanism transition from SF shearing to microtwinning." @default.
