- W2963662034 abstract "In this study, steam reforming of the alcohols with varied number of hydroxyl groups (1-propanol, 2-propanol, 1,2-propanediol and glycerol) were conducted over the Ni-Al2O3 and Ni-SiO2 catalysts with varied distribution of acid types. The results showed that the increase of number of hydroxyl groups in the alcohols suppressed the formation of CH4, but promoted the production of CO and the organic by-products. Both Lewis and Brønsted acidic sites were observed over Ni-Al2O3 catalyst, while Lewis acidic sites were dominated over Ni-SiO2 catalyst. The different reaction intermediates resulted in the formation of mainly amorphous coke over Ni-Al2O3 catalyst with some Ni grains were encapsulated by amorphous coke. In comparison, the coke over the Ni-SiO2 was mainly nanotube form. The varied reaction intermediates formed were observed with the in-situ Diffuse Reflectance Infrared Fourier Transform Spectroscopy studies of steam reforming of the alcohols." @default.
