- W296449062 abstract "The application of induction generators in the wind power industry is standard practice. An induction generator draws reactive power from the network depending on its real power output, such that the greater the real power exported to the network, the more reactive power is absorbed. The main objective of the work is to examine the potential of fixed and variable speed induction generators for minimizing the real power losses in a network. In general, wind turbines do not take part in voltage and frequency control, and if a significant disturbance occurs the wind turbines are disconnected by protection systems and reconnected when normal operation has resumed. Thus, notwithstanding the presence of wind turbines, frequency and voltage are predominantly maintained by controlling large power plants, as would have been the case without any wind turbines present. It is, therefore, important to study the steady-state behaviour of wind turbines in an electric power system and their interaction with other generation equipment and local loads. Simulation studies carried out on modified IEEE 14- bus and 30- bus systems are reported." @default.
