A series of transnational exhibitors are emerging, buying up regional companies to form global companies, such as Dalian Wanda. Chapter 12 examines these developments in the context of the hegemony of the multiplex as the dominant form of industrial organisation, allied to its symbiotic relationship to new kinds of retailing and leisure, centred on the shopping mall.
