Thus, to promote consistent application of the cross-section slenderness parameter limits and design strength curves specified for CHSs, also to the EHSs, an improved empirical expression for the equivalent CHS diameter is derived in this study using the results of EHS stub column analyses from the literature, based on a novel Equivalent-Resistance-Capacity-Method (ERCM). Additionally, a unified empirical expression based on the Direct-Strength-Method (DSM) approach for predicting the axial compressive capacity is also determined by using an exhaustive data of EHS and CHS stub-column analyses from the literature." @default.
