- W2967892013 abstract "Purpose : Characterize the family, individual and environmental factors related to the consumption or non-consumption of drugs in schooled male and female teenagers from Minatitlan, Veracruz Mexico. Methodology : Descriptive study with a methodology of Balanced Incomplete Block Design (BIB). Sample of 720 schooled teenagers. Eight samples previously validated with the Mexican population were used in this study. The analysis included the calibration of the tests through the Rasch Model, in order to have reliable items adapted to the interest population and to perform the group characterization in male and female drug users and non-users, under the metrics -2 to +2 in logytes (-2 low risk and +2 high risk), besides other comparisons among groups. For the analysis of male and female groups, the statistical t of student was used. For collective characterization the Rasch Model was used again in order to anchor the tests, which had been previously calibrated. Results, discussion and conclusions : Teenagers begin to drink alcohol and tobacco at the age of 12 and other types of drug at 13 years old. Teenagers characterization at group and collective level show a low-risk trend concerning family, individual and environmental factors. However, along with this low risk, male and female drug users reported greater problems compared to non-users. These findings justify that nursing care should work in this school population at the preventive level, by implementing programs that are specific to the family, individual and environmental risks detected in mean and women from Minatitlan." @default.
