Primarily, the renewable energy, that is, solar energy plays a vital role in the production of solar energy harvesting devices with high power conversion efficiency owing to its inexhaustible nature and environmental responsiveness. Further, enhancement of power conversion efficiency is an essential parameter for the manufacturing of photovoltaic (PV) devices which makes it more cost effective as compared with conventional energy sources. Antireflective (AR) coatings are extensively used to eliminate the undesired surface reflections from the SHAP-coated surface. SHAP coatings are broadly used in different optoelectronic devices, automobile industries, sensors, and PV solar cells to reduce reflectance and enhance light transmittance, etc. Hence, this chapter reports the recent developments in the fabrication techniques of SHAP thin film coatings comprising organic and inorganic materials for solar cell applications. Moreover, we predominantly focused on different principles and coating techniques by various physicochemical methods and pinpoints the potential strategies and technological challenges of SHAP coatings. This chapter also addresses the various factors responsible for improving solar cell efficiency using SHAP coatings. A small section that deals with the future challenges and potential strategies of SHAP coatings has also been included in this chapter." @default.
