- W2969968751 abstract "At about 16 million young women aged between 15 and 19 in world give birth every year (World Health Organization). Young women face the problem of four times bigger risk of mother death compared with women at the age of 20.In 2016, 5.148 million babies were born in European Union (EU), as the average age of the mothers for the first birth varies between the membercountries. The lowest average age for the first childbirth is registered in Bulgaria (26.0 years), followed by Romania (26.4).The highest part of births of first child from teen mothers (under 20 years) is registered in Romania (14.2%) and Bulgaria (13.6%) from total amount of births of first child in 2016.Many researchers explore the risk factors to early childbirth, but do not accent on the interaction between institutions and specialists who work with juvenile and teen mothers. The GPs in their everyday practice provide medical care to adolescent mothers and are the first who face the problems of the early childbirth. The conducted empiric study examined part of this issue and does not claim to be exhaustive. Obtained results show that less than half of the GPs identify adolescent mothers as children in risk. Respondents select the following factors for early motherhood: ethnos, low educational degree of parents and family environment. The fact, that two-thirds of the registered juvenile and teen mothers give birth to a second child in a 2-year period after the first birth is alarming; they rarely visit pediatric consultation offices which can be accepted as a prerequisite for a higher rate of morbidity among their children.GPs cooperate most successfully with the medical specialists from the general hospitals they refer the adolescent pregnant girls/mothers to, and the social worker from Child Protection Service, responsible for each case. The greatest difficulty they meet are lack of coordination between institutions, working with adolescent and teen mothers, as well as lack of understanding on behalf of the adolescent mothers to matters related to early motherhood and child upbringing. In order to improve the effectiveness of the work with juvenile and teen pregnant girls and mothers, it is necessary to build a coordination mechanism for interaction between institutions and specialists." @default.
