- W2972886881 abstract "The study conducted is to investigate employee perception of the effect of performance appraisal on employee performance using Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Accra Head Office as a case. A total sample of 65 staff was considered for the study but there was a response rate of 61.5%. The study found out that fair and constructive performance appraisal of employees and commensurate with actions such as pay rise, training and development, and the like have a positive effect on employee performance. It was also found that the case organization has their appraisal system and processes in place. Again, the respondents agreed that performance appraisal helps in professional development (identifying strengths and weaknesses in performance, implementing strategies for improvement) of the employees which has led to identifying systematic factors that are barriers to effective employee performance and the overall organizational performance. Furthermore, the employees also agreed that performance appraisal facilitates the development of reward systems as well as validate administrative decisions including compensation, promotion, placement, etc. and also facilitates the determination of organizational training and development needs. In due regard, the study recommends that, for employees to accept the outcome of performance appraisal, managers or supervisors must ensure that Performance appraisal feedback truly reflects and represents the actual performance of the employee. The study also recommends the need to ensure fairness in the Appraisal Process and also the need to ensure that Performance Criteria is developed in consultation with workers and appraisers. Furthermore, for an improvement in the performance of employees and the overall performance of an organization, results of performance appraisal must be acted upon. Finally, the study recommends the need to ensure that Managers/Supervisors (Appraisers) do not take advantage of their position to victimize workers or employees." @default.
