We have examined 0ifmmode^circelsetextdegreefi{} ($p$,$n$) data for the energy range 5-200 MeV and find that for energies larger than 50 MeV and for targets with $A=7ensuremath{-}42$ the product of the interaction-strength and distortion-factor ratios $|frac{{J}_{ensuremath{sigma}ensuremath{tau}}}{{J}_{ensuremath{tau}}}|{(frac{{N}_{ensuremath{sigma}ensuremath{tau}}}{{N}_{ensuremath{tau}}})}^{frac{1}{2}}$ appears to be mass independent and linear as a function of bombarding energy.NUCLEAR REACTIONS $^{7}mathrm{Li}$, $^{13,phantom{rule{0ex}{0ex}}14}mathrm{C}$, $^{26}mathrm{Mg}$, $^{37}mathrm{Cl}$, $^{41}mathrm{Ca}$($p$,$n$), measured $ensuremath{sigma}(ensuremath{theta}=0ifmmode^circelsetextdegreefi{})$, GT, IAS transitions, ${E}_{p}=60ensuremath{-}200$ MeV.
