- W2974763205 abstract "In this chapter, the author is interested in the question whether the meaning of lifelong learning is limited by the character of a slogan or not. The chapter begins with a short description of the empirical research upon which this analysis is based: six documents of educational policy from different international organisations; and four scientific journals about education in Germany in the time period from 1970 to 1998. She then discusses the pedagogical concept of lifelong learning as it is presented in the educational policy papers from different European and international organisations. This is followed by an analysis of the political perspective, focusing upon the differences between the policy papers. She concludes that in the area of education policy, there is a pedagogical concept of lifelong learning and that the concept of lifelong learning has proved adaptable to various political constellations. In short, lifelong learning, in the political sphere, can be described as a pedagogical concept which is context-adaptive to various different political contexts and aims." @default.
