• W2977358167 abstract "Introduction: Pharmacy Solutions, a licensed specialty pharmacy owned and operated by AbbVie, fills adalimumab (HUMIRA®) prescriptions and provides product replacement (PR) for patients (pts) taking adalimumab who had a pen misfire or malfunction at no cost to pts (no limitation on the number of replacements). To understand utilization of PR program, we evaluated clinical characteristics of those who used this benefit and reasons for PR in pts with IBD, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), plaque psoriasis (Ps), or psoriatic arthritis (PsA). Methods: A retrospective analysis of PR for the yrs 2014/2015 was performed by auditing pts charts and referrals (electronic records of requests for benefit verification, prescription or associated prescription supplies from pts or HCP). Pts ≥18 years old with IBD, RA, Ps, and PsA were included in analysis. PR requests resulting from reported user error, stability issues, or pen malfunction received PR approval. Pharmacy Solutions obtained a new prescription from pts' HCPs and contacted pts to set up an overnight shipment, offering the opportunity to conduct a PR assessment by a registered nurse. Pts self-reported the time point in therapy at which PR occurred and reasons for replacement. Results: A total of 12007 referrals were received in 2014/2015. There were more referrals for females (7371/12007, 61.4%) and for IBD (4823/12007, 40.2%) than RA (3232/12007, 26.9%), Ps (2626/12007, 21.9 %), and PsA (1326/12007, 11.0%). Pts 50-59 yrs had more referrals than other age groups in each indication, except pts with IBD (18-29 years old). Most pts (88.5% - 90.9%) received one PR, Figure 1. Of pts with PR (one PR per patient), 43.4% (10663/24571) completed assessment (one assessment/patient). Pts reported most frequent incidence of PR for each indication within first month of first year of therapy, Figure 2. All pts commonly reported reasons for PR: “Did not keep steady pressure”, “Accidentally pressed button”, and “Did not wait 10 sec”.Figure 1Figure 2Conclusion: The incidences of PR, highest in the first month of treatment, and usage-related reasons for replacement suggest a lack of pen-operation knowledge among pts with IBD, RA, Ps, and PsA." @default.
