- W2977646087 abstract "In chick biventor cervicis nerve-muscle preparations about 50% of acetylcholinesensitivity has been found to remain after the total failure of neuromusculartransmission caused by A.halys venom treatment,suggesting that the venom mayhave both pre-and post-synaptic action.Experiments on rat phrenic-diaphragm preparations showed that the venomcould reduce substantially the acetylcholine potentials produced by iontophoreticmethod.The frequency of the miniature end-plate potential and the quantal contentof the end-plate potential tended to decrease progressively with the higher concentration(200μg/ml)of venom;however,the decline in both processes was proceeded by an initialspurt,if the concentration of the venom was lower(40～100μg/ml).Furthermore,alower Ca or higher Mg concentration significantly delayed the neuromuscular blockingaction of the venom.It is therefore concluded that the blocking action of the A.halysvenom is exerted not only postsynaptically but also presynaptically.On the basis of the above experimental results further work on the isolation of thepresynaptic toxin from neurotoxic components of A.halys venom has been accomplish-ed.Detailed data will be published elsewhere." @default.
