- W2978356627 abstract "What Mary Shelley's novel and Mikhail Bulgakov's novella say in essence is that every man seeks happiness and love throughout his life. Both of the writings are strange stories about a scientist, who playing the role of God creates a monster. Analysing the novel, Frankenstein and the novella, The Heart of a Dog I will examine the questions why the authors choose this unusual topic, what the aims of the creators is with their work. I will demonstrate the different ways of the creatures' creation. I will inquire into the character of the creators and creatures, the problems arising in connection with the creatures' existence, the causes, which led to the conclusion that the creatures have to die. My thesis will emphasize the problems, which are related to the issue of the human being's existence, the aim of modern academic research. I will examine the question what characteristic features are needed to turn a personality into a real member of human society. Both Mary Shelley and Mikhail Bulgakov underline the valuable features of science because of its function in progress but they also warn about its dangerous character at the same time. My analysis will point out that both of their literary works call the scientists' attention to assuming responsibility for their deeds." @default.
