- W2979846579 abstract "Numerous researches have been conducted on account of the importance of the scientific value of Gotjawal`s diverse ecosystem on Jeju Island. In this study, moths were collected in Seonheul Gotjawal (Jeju-si, Jocheon-eup, Seonheul-ri, Dongbaekdongsan) from March to September in 2013. A total of 668 individuals of 170 species in 15 families were found in this site. Noctuidae was a dominant family with 66 species (38.83%) followed by Geometridae with 46 species (27.06%) and Crambidae with 27 species (15.88%). Species were evaluated into three classes, abundant (++), common (+) and rare (±) by using 95% confidence limit to analyze the characteristics of species distribution. Monthly abundant species were Rhynchaglaea fuscipennis, Orthosia odiosa, Descoreba simplex in March, R. fuscipennis, R. scitula, O. odiosa, Cleora leucophaea in April, Eilema japonica, Spilarctia seriatopunctata, Peratostega deletaria, Elophila interruptalis, Cotachena alysoni in May, Bombyx mandarina, Spirama retorta, Paraona staudingeri, Fascellina chromataria, Callabraxas compositata in June, Menophra senilis, F. chromataria, S. retorta, Sypnoides fumosa, Mecodina nubiferalis in July, Pangrapta perturbans, Ercheia uiveostrigata, Pycnarmon pantherata in August, and C. alysoni, Palpita nigropunctalis, Cnaphalocrocis stereogona, Geometra dieckmanni, Eilicrinia parvula, Agathia visenda in September. Species diversity index (H`) calculated by Shannon-Weaver function (1949) was highest in August (3.90) and lowest in March (1.35). Monthly dominant species were O. odiosa (47 individuals) in March, R. fuscipennis (73 individuals) in April, E. interruptalis(17 individuals) in May, and as temperature and humidity increased, various species appearedwith high species diversity index value from June to September. Gotjawal and forest resources on Jeju Island have a high value of conservation, but occurrence of sporadic insects has increased due to the climate changes. Therefore, continuous monitoring of insect pests is required as well as the studies on the relationships between dominant species and the host plants to protect forests on Jeju Island." @default.
