- W2981642510 abstract "What happens when the carnival of crime is not orchestrated by a TV show, a dark tourism operator or a murderabilia website owner but by a criminal in person? The last chapter analyses the case of Breivik, who used the sublime of violence to turn his action into a spectacle or ‘performance’. Taking into consideration Breivik’s ‘2083’ manifesto, a visual analysis of a meme made by his followers, letters written by Breivik and comments on YouTube videos (content analysis), four communication carnival of crime and consent orchestration strategies are identified: a stringent distinction between good and evil, team spirit, a DIY logic and aestheticisation. In contrast to Chapter 7, in the Breivik case, a performative use of justice during the trial enabled the law to deconstruct Breivik’s performance and restored the sacred (right)." @default.
