- W2982420361 abstract "Abstract Borate-based fluoride glasses have been investigated for optical devices from photonics to scintillator. This study details with the influence of titanium ions on spectroscopic properties of oxyfluoride glasses in the 55B2O3–(25-x) ZnF2–10CaF2–10Al2O3:xTiO2 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) mol% system, which has been prepared via melt-quenching technique. Structural characterization is achieved by a combination of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The observed Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectra are representative of 3d1 unpaired electron of paramagnetic Ti3+ ion in a tetragonally distorted octahedral field in the glass network. Optical absorption spectra show the existence of typical characteristic of Ti3+ ions and the various optical parameters such as; optical band gap and Urbach energy evaluated from the experimental data. FT-IR spectral studies have pointed out the existence of conventional BO3, BO4, B-O-B, TiO4 & [TiO6]2− structural units of these glasses. Physical properties are investigated from density measurements. Optical basicities are also computed for all prepared samples." @default.
