- W2984051657 abstract "A multi-domain boundary element code is developed to study the effect of permeable plates for attenuating wave-induced response of a floating structure near a rigid wall. The physical problem is studied in two dimensions under the assumptions of linearized water wave theory in water of finite depth. It is observed that in the presence of permeable plates, the floating structure experiences a significant reduction in the amplitude of various hydrodynamic coefficients related to the diffraction and radiation of gravity waves. Interestingly, the negative added mass phenomena associated with the oscillating floating structure reduce up to 30% with suitable choice of the permeability of porous plates, space between them, and careful positioning between the structure and impermeable wall. The study reveals that significant reduction in the amplitude of resonating patterns in the hydrodynamics characteristics can be achieved in the presence of porous plates of moderate permeability within the range 20% to 30%." @default.
