- W2987200573 abstract "Vapor-phase hydrogenation of γ-valerolactone (GVL) to form 2-methyltetrahydrofuran (2-MTHF) was studied over various non-noble metal catalysts under mild reaction conditions. Cu/Al2O3 catalyst exhibited a high catalytic performance, and the calcination of Cu/Al2O3 significantly affected the product selectivity. The Cu/Al2O3 calcined at 700 °C with a high acid density was the most selective for the formation of 2-MTHF. The calcination of Cu/Al2O3 at 800 °C or higher led to the formation of CuAl2O4 phase with low acidity, which was not preferable for the formation of 2-MTHF. The effects of the reaction conditions were studied in detail: a 2-MTHF selectivity of 98.9% with a GVL conversion of 98.5% was achieved at 200 °C, an H2 pressure of 1.5 MPa, and a weight hourly space velocity of 0.7 h−1 without catalytic deactivation." @default.
