- W2989771273 abstract "Multipactor is an electron discharge driven by secondary electron emission that plagues microwave components, accelerator structures, space-borne systems, and other related electronics in vacuum. Recently, a novel theoretical approach for multipactor based on nonlinear dynamics and chaos theory has been introduced and demonstrated for single-carrier operation. In this paper, this theory is expanded to two-carrier operation in a parallel-plate geometry, where two radio frequency (RF) electric-fields (each with a separate amplitude and frequency) are present in the gap. Here, the theory applies to long-term multipactor discharges. The theoretical predictions are verified against particle-in-cell simulations, and a two-carrier susceptibility diagram that summarizes the influence of the second carrier on multipactor suppression is presented. The generalization of the theory to multicarrier systems, where several RF carriers coexist, is discussed." @default.
