- W2991245074 abstract "Cyber-physical system (CPS), as a complex network system, comprises a large number of heterogeneous nodes. These nodes may be flawed and exploited by hackers to compromise the whole system. Therefore, it is vital to add defenses to the nodes to protect system security. However, if all nodes are equally considered, the defense costs will be high and become unacceptable. To solve this issue, intuitively, one can select some appropriate nodes for defense, which would achieve the same level of security protection but with fewer costs. Unfortunately, how to find out the relevant nodes is a non-trivial task. In this paper, we propose a novel method to calculate the minimal defense-cost of CPS. First, the atom attack defense tree is proposed to model attack-defense strategies of CPS. Then an algorithm is designed to calculate the minimal defense-cost, i.e., choose the appropriate nodes to be protected. We implement the modeling of atom attack defense tree and the calculation of minimal defense-cost as a single tool for easy use. The effectiveness of our proposed method and the performance of the calculation tool are verified by a case study of a typical power system. The results demonstrate that our approach can correctly figure out the minimal path sets and the minimal defense-cost of CPS." @default.
