- W2991336696 abstract "Planar laser-induced fluorescence is employed as noninvasive in situ technique to investigate the oxidation of formaldehyde over platinum. Two-dimensional absolute HCHO concentration distributions over a catalyst-coated plate are visualized in a parallel wall channel. The experimental results are compared with corresponding numerical simulations using ANSYS-Fluent with a detailed surface reaction mechanism. The influence of temperature, Pt-loading and mass flow rate on HCHO profiles are investigated experimentally and numerically in steady state. In the temperature range of 373 – 673 K, the HCHO distribution measured is well predicted by the model. A slow transition from a kinetically controlled regime to a mass transfer limited regime can be observed at 573 K in this study. It is found that the local HCHO concentration in the catalytic channel is governed by a combined effect of chemical kinetics, diffusive mass transfer, and flow field." @default.
