- W2994732527 abstract "During the manufacturing of energy cables with synthetic insulating materials, a certain number of microcavities appears in their insulation system. The size of these defects varies between 1 μm and 20 μm and their distribution is such that in the cable and their number is greater in the zone closest to the protective sheath. The inevitable formation of these defects is due to the processes utilized in the crosslinking of the polymers following the decomposition of the peroxide or the penetration of water. For the calculation of these constraints, we have used the finite volume method because of its simplicity in the symmetrical and two-dimensional systems, which corresponds perfectly in the case of cables which can be considered as cylindrical systems with axial symmetry." @default.
