- W2997960379 abstract "In this paper, we present an efficient implementation of the generalized Ffowcs-Williams and Hawkings (FWH) acoustic analogy for moving medium problems in the high-order FR/CPR large eddy simulation solver, hpMusic. The current implementation features both solid and permeable surface options for the acoustic data surfaces. It also inherits the high-performance computing capabilities available in the solver. The flow model is the compressible Navier-Stokes equations which are solved in the implicit large eddy simulation (ILES) approach. The spatial discretization is accomplished using the high-order FR/CPR method. This offers an accurate and high-order Gauss integration framework for the FWH surface elements. For solving the FWH equations we adopt a frequency domain formulation for stationery data surfaces. This results in a huge memory saving, especially for statistical convergence and acoustic spectral analysis. The acoustic solver is validated with two analytical test cases of single frequency and broadband monopoles. In addition, the LES-based jet noise prediction of an overexpanded nozzle is conducted to assess the performance of the solver for a turbulent flow case. To validate the solid surface implementation, the solver is also used to predict the far-field noise of the flow past an idealized generic side mirror." @default.
