- W3004449744 abstract "Expansive soils denote soft clayey soils that possess the tendency of increase or decrease in volume in the presence of moisture content changes. Such changes in the moisture content of these soils may occur due to seasonal variations from monsoon to summer. It causes the soil to become too weak in supporting the infrastructure facilities leads to consequences of various failures. This paper attempts to study is aimed to improve the Engineering performances of locally available in situ materials by treating it with Nanomaterial. Engineering performances such as the compressibility and permeability of Nanomaterial treated Kuttanad soft clay and an increase in supporting strength of treated soil. Soft clay mixed with different dosages of a nano chemical called Terrasil to produce the soil combinations. Finally, the experimental results have been carried out on prepared soil combinations to obtain permeability, compaction, and consolidation strength parameters. Further, Unconfined Compression Strength (UCS) tests were performed on soil combinations to arrive at the optimum dosage of chemical corresponds to peak strength. Experiment results are indicating that the addition of nano chemicals into the soft clay reduces the compressibility and increases UCS and permeability characteristics. The ultimate result of the present work is to find the durability of using a Nano chemical for soft ground improvement and to find an optimum dosage of the stabilizer, which ensures maximum strength, controlling compressibility, and permeability characteristics." @default.
