- W3005985740 abstract "A. L. Galaburda, G. D. Rosen and G. F. Sherman argued that intrahemispheric and interhemispheric connectivities are inversely correlated and that both are related to anatomical and functional asymmetries. They purported to account for both intrahemispheric and interhemispheric sex differences in language organization. Behavioral laterality effects can reflect differences in hemispheric competencies, differences in callosal connectivity, or both. Animal studies showed that sex differences in the size of the corpus callosum in the rat reflect differences in both the number and type of callosal fibers. The dichotic listening and primed lexical decision tests showed sex differences in the correlations of both interhemispheric and intrahemispheric components with cognitive tests. The sex differences are pervasive, starting with the relationship of callosal morphometry to morphology, continuing with the relationship of size of asymmetry in the specialized language area to callosal morphometry, and extending to the relationship of asymmetry of specialized language area to callosal morphology." @default.
