Glucose based DES assisted organic synthesis is a simple, clean, efficient and environmentally friendly method. In this work five kinds of biologically active organic heterocyclic 2,6-diarylpiperidin-4-one derivatives such as 3-ethyl-2,6-di(4-methoxyphenyl)piperidin-4-one (A), 3-methyl-2,6–di(4-methoxyphenyl)piperidin-4-one (B), 3,5-dimethyl-2,6-di(4-methoxyphenyl)piperidin-4-one (C), 2, 6-di(4-methoxyphenyl)piperidin-4-one (D) and 3-ethyl-2,6-diphenylpiperidin-4-one (E) were synthesised by the reactions of respective ketones 2-pentanone, ethyl methyl ketone, 3-pentanone, acetone with 4-methoxybenzaldehyde using a deep eutectic solvent (DES) of glucose and urea with the composition of 3:2. The yields of these synthesised compounds A, B, C, D and E were found to be 85%,75%, 80%, 72% and 70% respectively. The melting points of all the piperdin-4-one compounds were observed. All the synthesised compounds were characterised by FT-IR, 1HNMR and 13CNMR spectroscopic techniques." @default.
