- W3008283832 abstract "Halloysite nanoclay (Hal) is a dioctahedral 1:1 layered alumosilicate with tubular morphology, in which the chemical composition and electric charges of its inner and outer surfaces are different. The unique chemical and physical features of Hal render it a promising candidate for diverse range of applications, especially catalysis. In this case, Hal is mostly used as a catalyst support for immobilization of catalytic species. Mostly, to assure efficient anchoring of the catalytic species and suppressing their leaching, surface functionalization of Hal is carried out prior to immobilization. To date several review articles and book chapters are published on Hal and its surface functionalization. In this chapter the utility of Hal for development of heterogeneous and recyclable (photo) catalysts is disclosed by discussing various examples in detail. The main focus is on the design and preparation of the catalysts. Moreover, various Hal-based catalytic hybrid systems, including Hal-polymer, Hal-carbon materials and Hal-polysaccharides are presented." @default.
