- W3010687002 abstract "Natural sand is essential and plays a vital role in the preparation of cement mortars. With day to day shortage of natural sand, the use of an alternative material which can replace Natural River sand either partially or naturally is necessary. One such material is the manufactured sand (M sand) which is produced from crushing of hard granite stone. Therefore, this paper focuses on the influence of M sand on the strength characteristics of engineered cementitious composite (ECC) and comparing those with that of conventional concrete mixes. ECC is a ductile fibre reinforced cementitious material which is designed based on micromechanics concept. Its high ductility and its tightness enhance its structural safety under severe loads. Natural sand is replaced by M sand in percentage basis until required properties are achieved, and then crumb rubber is used as a replacement of fine aggregate at varied percentages from 5% to 15% to obtain optimum result. The compressive and tensile strengths were tested for cubes and cylinders to evaluate the hardened properties. Flow table tests are also performed on all mortar mixes to evaluate the fresh properties." @default.
