- W3011090057 abstract "Abstract Fatigue life analysis of porous materials such as metal foams is very difficult to process because a comprehensive computational analysis using numerical models with a huge number of finite elements is required for that purpose. Instead of modelling the exact internal structure of treated porous materials, an appropriate homogenised material model of AlSi7 closed-cell aluminium foam is used in this study. The numerical analysis is based on the available experimental results from static and fatigue tests made on cylindrical porous specimens. A kinematic hardening model is proposed, to obtain the cyclic stress−strain response which is needed for the subsequent fatigue analysis to determine the fatigue life of a treated porous structure under oscillating tensile loading with the stress ratio R = 0.1. The numerically determined fatigue lives are compared with the experimental results, where the comparison has shown a reasonable agreement. Therefore, the proposed homogenised material model can be identified as an appropriate approach to simulate the fatigue behaviour of engineering components made of closed-cell aluminium foam." @default.
